Choose the Building record search in the official Columbus portal. The public search options do not require an account.
Use the application or permit number, parcel number without dashes, or the street number and street name. City guidance says too many details can prevent results.
If the record may be older than three years, remove the portal start date before searching again.
Open each matching record to verify its type, dates, status, details, and inspections. The City record-search guide says results can also be downloaded as CSV.

Most permit applications require plan review for applicable building-code and residential-code compliance. Respond to a correction letter if the plans need more information or changes.
Plan approval is not permit issuance. The City reviews the record for completeness and related approvals before issuing the permit.
