Paris uses autorisations d’urbanisme rather than one generic building-permit record. Depending on the work, the required approval may be a permis de construire, permis de démolir, permis d’aménager, or déclaration préalable. The City provides separate tools for recent cases, older open data, and archival files.

Open the City map, zoom to the property, and inspect located applications for building, demolition, or development authorization. The City describes this view as covering requests up to six months old.
For records older than the recent-map window, open the City historical planning-authorization dataset and search or filter the address and authorization fields.
Confirm the property address, application type, reference, dates, and decision shown in the official source. Do not treat a filed or refused request as an issued authorization.
For older construction or demolition files, use the Archives de Paris address-based research route. The published municipal-instruction building-permit collection covers 1880 through 2006, with separate collections and date ranges for other files.

Use the City simulator and project guidance to distinguish a permis de construire from a déclaration préalable or another urban-planning authorization.
Review the Paris planning rules, parcel context, heritage constraints, proposed use, floor-area change, facade work, and any other approval that can affect the dossier.
Complete the applicable Cerfa form and assemble the plans, elevations, photographs, environmental information, and project-specific supporting documents identified by the City.
Submit and follow the request through the Paris urban-planning online service. The City states that legal entities must use the online service; current City guidance identifies the limited paper route available to individuals.
Respond to completeness or review requests, then verify the decision. An authorization must be displayed on the site before work is treated as authorized.
For a building permit, file the required opening declaration. At the end of authorized work, submit the completion and conformity declaration through the official process.
